So I will stand by my new lover's side
And staple together the pages of our years
The blacked out fragments of our faded storyline
And the harsh words and silences that still sting my ears
My my, my love
It must have gone by so fast
I haven't grown any older, why have you?
The memories of twisted dreams, of whirlwinds and of make-believe
The nowhere fairytale with a lazy end
The phone calls late and dates with cyberspace
You never could have been anything real to me
It would break the veil of fantasy, I know I was dreaming
Of you and of kisses rough against the midnight sky
The midwinter sun has finally arrived
And so has my beautiful beginning
The middle of our downward spiral has drawn to a close
It's too bad you never knew where to end or begin
I won't dangle from your sins again
I'm through with flailing inside your web
You can't leave me hanging if I've already fallen
Caught by loving whispers of truthful delights
I find your anger to be quite amusing
And this time I won't be the one to give in
I will not apologize again
I will not be lied to but I promise I will lie to you
Now that I'm safe here in the arms of a love I once pushed away
Shot down, regurgitated, humiliated, all for you
Your love was nothing but a tattered photograph in a broken frame
The cuts on my arms, the mind numbing pain
All I needed was a new place to start
All you had to give me was a sweetened taste of heartbreak
I haven't been sleeping very well at night lately, probably because I have so much time to sleep during the day. I wrote this one at about 1:00 a.m. this week because a few verses popped into my head and begged to be written down. And I decided to just keep going with it..
